Trolls, goats and downtown businesses have been enlisted for a fresh celebration of the Turners Falls-Gill Bridge reopening. The bridge reopened to two-way traffic in the fall, a help to those trying to get in and out of the village. The Department of Transportation had planned to complete the renovations this month, but that schedule was again up in the air in recent weeks, with a spokesman saying the DOT and contractors are awaiting a redesigned set of bearings — the structural element allowing bridges to flex safely with changes in temperature.
