Remembering the Dead, Song and Dance on Turners Falls Riverfront Saturday

By CHRIS CURTIS, Recorder Staff, Wednesday, May 13, 2015, TURNERS FALLS — On Tuesday, it will be 339 years since the infamous attack on a Native American encampment on the Gill bank of the Connecticut River and the ensuing fighting that gave the village of Turners Falls its name, after colonial Capt. William Turner fell to avenging pursuers in Greenfield.

This will be the third year the event is marked publicly on the weekend nearest the anniversary, this year as part of a larger cultural and artistic celebration in downtown Turners Falls on Saturday, the River’s Song Project.
