By SHERYL HUNTER, Greenfield Recorder,Wednesday, July 22, 2015 . When you’re planning a birthday celebration and you have a lot of musician friends who want to play at your party, maybe it would make sense to turn the party into a music festival.
Such was the thinking of musician Tommy Byrnes and his wife Jessica when plans for Tommy’s 50th birthday party got a bit out of hand. The couple was so impressed by all the great music being made in our area that in 2011, they established the Upper Valley Music Festival (UVMF) as a way to showcase all this local talent. They additionally wanted the festival to be a benefit, and since so many lives are touched by cancer, they agreed that proceeds from the festival would go to the American Cancer Society.
Now in its fifth year, the Upper Valley Music Festival has evolved into one of the musical highlights of the summer in Franklin County
