Unity Park, Turners Falls, MA, noon-dark
Eighteen years and it’s finally here! That’s how long the young people of Montague and the surrounding area have been waiting for a permanent skate park. Construction is now completed on one of the best concrete skate parks in New England.
The public is invited to share in the Unity Skatepark Grand Opening ribbon cutting celebration at Unity Park, 56 First Street, Turners Falls on Saturday, June 18th from noon to dark. Co-sponsored by the Unity Skatepark Committee, Montague Parks and Recreation, and Turners Falls RiverCulture, the event will feature free food, LIVE BANDS, a skateboarding contest, a BMX exhibition, and testimonials to three of the local youth who started the project in 1998, but did not live to see it through to completion.
Representative Steve Kulik will share the stage with representatives from the Town of Montague for the ribbon cutting and memorial unveiling at 1:00pm. There will be a Skateboarding Jam and Best Tricks Contest from 2-4pm. Sign up before 2pm. PRIZES!
